The Preschool and Kindergarten Experience (Ages 2 1/2 to 6)

Creative Play

This is an integral part of the children's lives. The Waldorf experience offers them a safe place to transform simple rocks, logs, cotton, and silk into castles, villages and ships as the moment's drama unfolds. Developing social skills and fostering the active imagination is necessary for future learning in all disciplines.

Felting Languages and Literature

Rich exposure to oral language and literature through fairy tales, nature stories, seasonal verses, and Spanish captivate the children's imagination. Playful rhymes, singing, and puppet shows also help prepare the foundation for literacy.

Domestic Activities

Doing simple daily activities such as cooking (with organic whole foods), sweeping, and gardening, the children imitate what the teacher models. They learn to care for the environment, take joy in work done lovingly, and gain confidence in their own abilities.

Artistic Expression

Painting, drawing, modeling and simple handcrafts give the young children a creative outlet for the expression of their inner life.

Maypole Celebration of the Seasons

Through festivals and stories, nature walks and the use of natural materials like beeswax, wood and wheat, we honor and celebrate the rhythm of life around us. These activities enhance the children's sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world. This forms the basis for a healthy scientific curiosity and a sense of stewardship for the earth.
